Consultation about the future of Lowick Parish Council

Westmorland and Furness Council is under a duty to keep parish governance arrangements under review. This is done through a Community Governance Review (CGR).

The current public consultation lasts for twelve weeks, and closes on 22 April 2026. This consultation is an opportunity for residents, parish councils and community groups to make comments on the draft recommendations and whether they agree with those proposals.

Merge Blawith & Subberthwaite and Lowick into a single parish council, served by two parish wards.

Community Governance Review

Water mains upgrade project

United Utilities have begun work on a project to install approximately 1.5 kilometres of new water mains in the Lowick Bridge area.

The project is being carried out to improve the resilience and reliability of the water network in the area. Work to install the new water main will begin week commencing Monday 5 January and is expected to take approximately 12 weeks in total to complete.

The contractors will be working on the road between the junction of the A5084 and the junction of the A5092. To carry out the work, they will be required to close the B5285, the work will move along the road in sections as it progresses. A diversion route will be clearly signposted.

You can report a pothole on the highway to Westmoreland and Furness Council with the reporting tool on the council website.

20mph application update

Lowick Green was selected as one of the identified schemes to be progressed in 2026/2027. Westmorland & Furness Council plans to consult on the scheme in 2026.
